Hi All, Fellow budoka have asked some great questions about the Midwest Taikai, so we wanted to make sure to send out an update to everyone in case some of you had similar questions.
First, for those of you that need an extended stay, the hotel has agreed to allow you to book the discounted price for any number of days between August 4th through August 11th. To modify your stay, simply click on the dates in the “edit stay” tab. The link for booking rooms at the group rate is here:
Second, some of you have expressed interest in Sunday Funday activities following the conclusion of the Taikai, including a group (or groups) of us on a pedal pub tour. As of right now, booking one on Sunday is roughly $385 for a group of 12-16 people, although they may limit to 12 depending on Minnesota Department of Health Guidelines say at the time. Please let us know if you are interested, so we can start to get a head count.
Third, a few folks have reached out, and asked if you have to be vaccinated to attend, and the short answer is while we recommend getting vaccinated if you have the opportunity, you do not have to be in order to attend the event. However, we will be subject to all active Minnesota Department of Health, and CDC guidelines at the time of the event, so at this point in time it means mask use will likely still be in effect in all common areas of the hotel, in order for the hotel to maintain compliance with all regulations. Yes, I know it makes us look like Ashida Kim rejects, and I’m sorry, but thems the rules right now.
Finally, we ask that all who can early commit to the event please register at the webpage. Getting an accurate head count early really helps us out with planning food, and other logistics for the event. Currently, there is still an early bird discount until June 1st 2021, at which point tickets will go to full price with the costliest option being payment at the door on August 6th.
